While lodging in Moab Utah visit a variety of petroglyphs and view ancient Indian petroglyphs. You can also photograph petroglyphs in many locations around Moab. Many of the petroglyphs are within walking distance and are viewable in locations along the river road just outside of Moab Utah.
Lodging accommodations in Moab Utah are very close to Newspaper Rock. Newspaper Rock State Historical Monument is a petroglyph panel etched in sandstone that records approximately 2,000 years of human activity in this area of Utah. Here there are symbols representing the Anasazi, Navajo, Fremont, and Anglo cultures. The meaning of these symbols is still not clearly understood.
Moab is also very near Newspaper Rock State Historical Monument. Newspaper Rock State Historical Monument is located right next to Utah Route 211, 20 miles south of Moab, and 24 miles north of Monticello on the main road into the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park. Newspaper Rock is one of the most accessible petroglyph sites around Moab, and can be viewed and photographed at very close range.
